GASP! X SCENE Queer All Dayer: The Judgement

  • CULTPLEX, 50 Red Bank, Manchester, England, M4 4HF United Kingdom (map)

An Egyptian gay couple return from the US to Egypt where they fall prey to witchcraft as punishment for their homosexual sins

An Egyptian gay couple return from the US to Egypt for a family emergency. The couple pretends to be friends in order to stay safe in this very homophobic environment, but coming back to Egypt already leaves Mo in anxiety and unease.

Someone knows Mo's secret, and they leave him witchcraft at his door as a sort of threat and shame. Mo who pretends to be a modern American atheist, and free from the superstitions of his religion and culture, falls into terror after stepping into the witchcraft. His childhood terrors and deep religious fears will return to expose his shame to his boyfriend who didn't understand that Mo still views their relationship as sinful.

This horrific experience will give Mo the confrontation he always feared, but he will fight back, and will eventually be liberated.

GASP X QUEER ALL DAYER

GASP! is a film festival that has been born out of a love for horror and film festivals but is frustrated with the lack of diversity within them.

Each year, this three-day festival takes place in Manchester and is dedicated to showcasing new horror, sci-fi, fantasy & thriller films by filmmakers within marginalised communities.

As part of the lead-up to Manchester Pride, GASP! are returning to their home of Cultplex and are teaming up with SCENE Manchester LGBTQ+ Film & TV Festival!

Together we present a day full of queer horror greatness complete with all of what you can expect from the main GASP! Festival including a short film showcase, a mystery queer classic, an anniversary screening and more!
