Ahead of the new Wicked film Wicked: For Good (in cinemas 21 November 2025) SCENE are celebrating all things Oz - you could even say we're holding space for it! - with a day of full of witches, wizards and yellow brick roads. It's been 125 years since L. Frank Baum's first Oz novel was published and his world and characters have endured to this day, letting us dream of escaping over the rainbow.
First up is a screening of the 1939 film classic The Wizard of Oz staring Judy Garland as Dorothy that has endured and become beloved by all especially the LGBTQ community for it's vivid visuals, catchy songs and tranportative themes.

When a tornado rips through Kansas, Dorothy Gale and her dog, Toto, are whisked away from their house to the magical Land of Oz. They follow the Yellow Brick Road to the Emerald City to meet the Wizard, and on the way, they meet a Scarecrow who wants a brain, a Tin Man who wants a heart, and a Cowardly Lion who wants courage. The Wizard asks them to bring him the Wicked Witch of the West's broom to earn his help.
